1. 청크 (chunk = collocation)을 "소리"로 "의미"로 "활용법"을 체득한다.

Ex. Take a break / make a decision / go on a vacation / make(take) a trip to the US / make a business trip to the US

 

2. 역동적인 따라 말하기를 통한 올바른 연음/ 강세/ 억양/ 띄어 읽기 숙달

- 내용어와 기능어로 나누고, 내용어를 발음할 땐 힘을 주고, 기능어를 발음할 땐 힘을 뺀다. 

- 띄어읽기는 의미단위로 끊어읽기. 

Ex. The star swimmer / renewed / the Asian swimming record / that he set in 2006. 

Ex. The policy / is not designed / to put a burden / on high school students. 

 

3. 헷갈리는 단어, 표현 정리

- Claim < assert < insist

Ex. He claimed that he was innocent. 

 

- Request < demand < urge

Ex. We request that you meet the due date next time.  

Ex. We urge / that you meet the due date / next time / or we will not renew / the contract.
