여러분은 어떤지 모르겠지만, 저는 나이가 들면 들수록 결정을 내리기가 더 힘들어집니다. 이제는 여러 가지를 이리저리 재고, 장단점을 따지는 편이라 의사결정이 느려집니다. 그러니까 저의 삶이 어떤 구간에 있는가에 따라 결정을 내리는 방식도 달라지는 것 같습니다.

 

여러분은 어떤지 모르겠지만, 저는 나이가 들면 들수록 결정을 내리기가 더 힘들어집니다. 

Try: I don't know about your opinion. For me, as time goes on, I'm having trouble in making a decision because there are a lot of things to consider. (or it's really hard for me to make a decision)

→ I don't know about you, but for me, it gets more difficult to make decisions as I get older. 

(어떤 생각을 갖고 있는지 모르겠지만~)

 

ex) 넌 어떤지 모르겠지만, 난 지금 여기서 시간 보내는 게 너무 좋아.

Try: I don't know about you, but I'd like to spend the time here. (→ I'm having a great time here.) 

ex) 넌 어떤지 모르겠지만, 난 여기 사는게 너무 행복해. 

Try: I don't know about you, but I'm so happy to live here. (→ for me, living here makes me really happy.)

 

젋을 때는 본능적 감각에 따라 (직감에 따라) 힘들 법한 상황에서도 좀 성급하게 결정을 내렸습니다. 

Try: When I was young, I made a hasty decision in a tough situation according to an instinct.

(→ I tended to follow my gut feelings and make kind of snap decisions in seemingly tough situations.)

 

난 중대 결정을 내릴 때 직감을 따르는 편입니다. 

Try: When I make an important decision, I follow my gut feelings. 

(→ I tend to follow my gut feelings, when I make major decisions.)

 

난 직감에 의존해 결정을 내리는 편이에요. 

Try: I tend to make a decision according to my gut feelings. 

(→ I tend to make decisions based on my gut feelings.)

 

성급하게 결정을 내리다

make a snap decision

make a hasty decision

make a rushed decision

만약 성급한 결정을 내리려 한다면, 결국 후회할 선택을 할 가능성이 있습니다. 

Try: If you make a hasty decision, you have chance to regret it. 

→ If you are about to make a snap decision, you may end up choosing (picking up) something that you will regret. 

 

너무 불확실한 상황이라 당장에 결정들을 내려야 했어. 

Try: I cannot but make a snap decision due to the uncertain situation. 

→ I had to make snap decisions, in the face of a lot of uncertainty. 

 

결연한 의지: Be determined to 

그는 현재 상황을 어떻게든 바꾸려 한다. 

Try: He is determined to change the situation. 

→ He is determined to change the status quo. 

 

우리는 가급적 빨리 이 일을 끝낼 각오가 되어있다. 

Try: We are determined to finish this work ASAP.

→ We are determined to get this work done ASAP.

 

어떤 영향으로 결정될 때: Determine

여러분의 삶의 질은 어떤 결정을 내리는가에 따라 결정된다.

Try: The quality of your life is determined by which decision you make. 

→ The quality of your life is determined by the decisions that you make. 

 

여러분의 운명은 여러분이 어떤 선택을 하는가에 따라 결정된다.

Try: The destiny of you is determined by what you choose. 

→ Your destiny is determined by the choices that you make. 

 

심의, 연구, 조사 후 판단일 때: Determine

조사관들은 아직 그의 사인을 파악하지 못했습니다. 

Try: The inspectors didn't determine the reason of the death. 

→ Investigators have yet to determine the cause of his death. 

 

과학자들은 화성에 물이 존재한다고 판단을 내렸다. 

Try: Scientists have determined that there is water on Mars. (O) 

 

이제는 여러 가지를 이리저리 재고, 장단점을 따지는 편이라 의사결정이 느려집니다. 그러니까 저의 삶이 어떤 구간에 있는가에 따라 결정을 내리는 방식도 달라지는 것 같습니다. 

I usually make decisions slowly because I consider a lot of things. What I choose depends on the stage of my life. 

→ But now I tend to weigh so many different options and their pros and cons, which slows down the decision-making process. So, I think, the way I make decisions changes at every stage of my life. 

 

견주어 비교하다: weigh A against B

모든 것을 재보다: weigh everything up

이리저리 살펴보다: look at things from all angles

장단점을 따져보다: weigh (up) the pros and cons of something

A가 B보다 더 크다 (많다): A outweights B
